Yesterday is History, Today is Reality, Tomorrow is Uncertain.

Meditation requires no special equipment, and is not complicated to learn. It can be practiced anywhere, at any given moment, and it is not time consuming (15-20 min. per day is good)

Meditation is often a very misunderstood concept and is a lot easier to do than most people think, it is not about achieving total silence within the mind (of course there are different types of meditation and meditation techniques). This can be done at times but is often only achieved for moments rather than a constant state of mind. Meditation is about achieving a state of being where you do not allow the thoughts, or the chatter of the mind to interfere with the meditation you are doing, you may get thoughts popping up, but just ignore them and don't interact with them. You see any thoughts, as though they are independent of yourself and just allow them to drift through the mind without getting into an internal dialogue with them. Meditation is just an altered state of mind, if you think about something you love doing, like listening to music or gardening there are moments when doing these things, you achieve the same mind state as meditating without even realizing. These moments are when you are just enjoying doing what you are doing and are totally in that moment, sometimes you loose track of time. Fishermen are some of the best meditators around without even realizing, they often sit for hours watching a float bobbing up and down in the water unaware of the passing of time and this state of mind could be likened to meditation. Guided meditation is a good way to begin, this allows the mind to focus on something and gives it something to do rather than making its own thoughts up. Try the guided meditation on the right to begin with and see how you get along?
